Reolum joins the "Winds of the Future" campaign promoted by AEE and civil society organizations.

Reolum, a company specializing in the promotion and development of renewable energy, today joined the Winds of the Future campaign promoted by the Wind Energy Business Association, along with Talent for Sustainability, the Foundation for Climate Research (FIC), and the New Economy and Social Innovation (NESI).

Reolum, a company specializing in the promotion and development of renewable energy, has joined the campaign today. Winds of the Future driven by the Wind Business Association, together with the entities Talent for Sustainability,  Climate Research Foundation (FIC) and New Economy and Social Innovation (NESI).  This is the first civic campaign to bring together entities from the fields of sustainability, science, and the social economy with companies in the sector to contribute to the development of wind energy in Spain.

Wind energy is already the leading source of electricity generation in Spain, accounting for more than 23% of the total in 2021 as a whole. However, its potential is much greater, and therefore its weight in the Spanish mix must increase in the coming years..  With this objective the initiative was presented last week “Winds of the Future” which recalls that, according to the objectives of the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan (PNIEC) 2021-2030, electricity generation through wind energy must reach 35% by the end of the decade - from the current 23% -, which requires doubling wind power capacity so that 74% of electricity comes from renewable sources by 2030. This will contribute to achieving the European objective of climate neutrality by 2050. To address these challenges, the campaign calls for a renewable, sustainable and fair energy model.

Advantages of wind energy

According to the campaign dossier, wind energy prevents the emission of 29 million tons of CO2 per year and employs more than 1,000 people in our country. 30,000 people in quality, stable jobsAs if that weren't enough Wind activity also contributes to the settlement of population in the territoriesThe positive impact of wind power on territorial structuring is palpable through the 250 industrial centers existing in 16 of the 17 autonomous communities and in the More than 1,260 wind farms coexist with the population of 9% of Spanish municipalities.

"Winds of the Future" also calls for wind power development that is "sensitive to the territory and compatible with the environment and the protection of biodiversity" and "A model of coexistence between wind power and other activities essential for local economic development”.  This philosophy fits with Reolum's way of understanding renewable projects as demonstrated by the Hybrex project which has meant a decisive leap in the consideration of the returns and benefits that wind projects must bring to the territories in which they are implemented..

The campaign will now continue its course and is open to the adhesion of new collaborators and from the same they invite "other associations, citizen groups and companies to join this collaborative commitment to promote wind energy, a renewable, efficient and indigenous source, which plays a key role in achieving a more sustainable society, which will survive for future generations.”. The collaborative process of Winds of the future will crystallize into a Manifest, which will reflect the main commitments made, together with the sponsoring entities and the participating organizations.

On the website www.vientosdefuturo.org Citizens will be able to learn more about the reality of wind power in our country and discover the potential this energy source offers through various educational materials, current news, and campaign information.
