Madrid, December 5, 2025. Reolum, a company that conceives and develops innovative projects to promote decarbonization and advance the energy transition, founded by Fernando Muñoz and Yann Dumont, has announced its third project in Castile and León -after La Robla and Villadangos Green -, specifically in Monfarracinos (Zamora) during an institutional event that took place yesterday in the town and which was attended by Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, president of the Junta de Castilla y León.
The new plant, which This will involve an investment of €700 million and has Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027, will feature 26.8 hectares intended for the production of green e-methanol, a synthetic fuel of renewable origin that will be key to the decarbonization of heavy transport, especially the maritime and air.
The project consists of the design, construction and operation of an integrated facility that It consists of a biomass unit, which will require 120kt/annual supply of herbaceous biomass unusable by livestock farmers and that equivalent to €10M/year; a CO2 capture unit2 biogenic, that will transform a total of 200kt/year of CO2, along with green hydrogen produced ad hoc, in 140,000 kt/year of green e-methanol thanks to a synthesis plant for this fuel of renewable origin.
The plant, which will be located in the “Zamora Norte” Industrial Estate” Monfarracinos (Zamora) plans to create about 1,500 jobs during peak construction periods and more than 200 direct jobs during operation.
In the words of Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, President of the Regional Government of Castile and León “The regional government supports all companies that want to grow, invest or set up operations in Castile and León, and has reiterated that the planned projects require the Spanish government's new energy plan to guarantee this supply, which is essential to boost industrial development and employment in the region.”
For Yann Dumont, founding partner and CEO of Reolum “Our commitment to decarbonization, and specifically to Castile and León, remains unwavering, and developing our third project in the region is a testament to this. With our three plants in the region, we will generate a total of 500 direct, permanent jobs and produce 420,000 tons of green e-methanol annually, positioning Castile and León as the leading producer in Spain and Europe. We are taking another step forward in our strategic vision: the production of green e-methanol, as well as its logistics and marketing. It's important to remember that this is the 'fuel of the future,' a fundamental industrial product.“
About Reolum
Reolum conceives and develops innovative projects to drive decarbonization and advance the energy transition. Green e-methanol represents a major commitment by the company to a new product. premium of decarbonization, due to its versatility and sustainability, in the form of fuel for maritime transport, as an intermediate product for the production of SAF -the renewable aviation fuel- or in its historical use as a chemical product and raw material for hundreds of everyday products.
Reolum's projects also present a series of differentiating characteristics compared to others currently on the market for the following reasons: integration of biogenic CO₂ into e-methanol production, either within the same industrial complex or directly connected to it; production of top-quality green e-methanol with a minimal carbon footprint, potentially even achieving a negative footprint at the source; and a financial structure through Project Finance, This allows medium-sized companies, and not just large corporations, to access highly capital-intensive hydrogen projects.
Additionally, all the projects bring significant social value to the regions where they are implemented, making use of underutilized rural resources and prioritizing Just Transition Zones, which need support to adapt to new energy paradigms. Finally, they demonstrate a strong commitment to talent and innovation, attracting leading technology companies, engineering firms, and construction companies, who find new market opportunities in these projects thanks to the learning curve in which Reolum is investing.
Founded in 2019 by two visionary partners – Fernando Muñoz and Yann Dumont – it has a multidisciplinary team of more than 30 professionals with experience in energy, biomass, sustainability and finance, dedicated to transforming energy generation and consumption from a profitable and sustainable perspective.
